On tuesday night I ran the second Run Our Trails race of the year at Mendon Ponds Park. Having not remotely recovered from sunday’s marathon my goals were just to get outside and eat some pizza. However the run went better than expected and I only needed 48:40 to run the 4 miles of trails.
I started off the race with a very conservative pace and the first mile was full of roots that made it difficult to find my footing. Getting to more well developed trails allowed me to run more naturally, but my legs were not recovered enough to do too much on the up or down hills. The course’s final half mile was pretty muddy so the course prevented me from being too quick even without all that many hills.
